Elemental Invasion

For God's sake, is it really so hard for a tank to wait 10 seconds and let everyone get the quest before charging in?

I even broke my own rule and did not heal the second tank who did this to me. He had been requested to stop so the group could get the quest, and he just kept charging. I know it was wrong, but it was so satisfying to watch that tank faceplant.

  1. It's the timer, it's creating a false sense of urgency I think

  2. When I got to the new bosses as a tank, we proceeded with caution and one-shot everything.

When I got to the new bosses as a DPS, I wiped more often than a bad PuG on Halion.

  3. Is it too much to ask that dps not scream "GOGOGOGOGO" the instant they zone in... even before the tank is in?

  4. It is not wrong to prevent or punish people harming you.

  5. I know what you mean...though I have to say, I got a really nice one today, who pulled too early, but when I mentioned not getting a quest, he offered to queue again. unfortunately the timer ran out and we weren't able to do it (he actually did initiate the queue), but it was the thought that counted

  6. I had to do the bloody earth portal twice before I could actually get the quest.

evidently it is too much to ask to wait :(

  7. I support your actions fully. There have been times when I have let an over-zealous tank, or a psychotic DPS'er die because that is the only way they will learn.

Most of the time it works out. Sometimes I get kicked because "lol healr sux0rs!"

  8. I know I am guilty of this today. But in my defense after the 10th time of chain queue'ing killing princess (4 the 1st time and 6 the 2nd), I think my brain went numb and went into auto pilot mode. It took me 30 attempts to get the shield to drop.

Not picking on you specifically, but this event is lasting for at least a week. Is there really any good reason for doing this sort of thing?

  10. Nicely done. This game is full of rude and arrogant people and if someone does not have the common decency to wait a few seconds, then in turn they do not deserve the common decency of expecting to be healed.

  11. Hmm. I see why you did it and I'd probably do the same in your shoes.

However, I'm not sure I agree with how zealous some of the comments sound on this. I tanked those bosses last night and whenever I waited at the beginning for any reason - make sure people can get the quest, see if anyone's asking tactics - whatever, there was always someone saying "just go" or more often, charging ahead and pulling for me. Once that was the healer rather than a DPS.

I think some - not all - tanks rush ahead because they feel that if they don't, the group will either charge ahead or grief them.

So yes, maybe sometimes tanks time it wrong or do it for bad reasons. But maybe sometimes the other group members are herding us on :)

  12. I've had the opposite experience. The tank is being slow and doing a "is everyone ready" before pulling.

Here's a few party tells I've been using.

/p Please don't stand in fire
/p Please interrupt as much as possible
/p Move if there's an ice spike below your feet

  13. There is an appropriate time and place to use negative reinforcement to teach a lesson. This was one of them.

To get the one drop he wanted from the event, and be done with it. Likewise, I will probably do the same thing as I have SEVERAL alts who can use some of the drops.

  15. I zoned into a group that had wiped with immediate rez requests. I rez'd the tank first and dropped a heal on him. By the time, I got the first DPS up and healed, the tank charged in and pulled the boss...I ignored him and kept rez'ing ppl. He was like, oh I guess people weren't ready yet. Gee, you think?

  16. is it just me or does the current loot system suck? it's purely a game mechanic and as such, couldn't an intelligent person devise something better? how about a reward for each party member and leave it at that? wouldn't it make more sense to buy something "crafted" from a player or NPC? it just seems hypocritical for a game maker to caution players about spending too much time in-game and then encourage grinding for a drop because it only drops 30% of the time or (much)less, that is then rolled on by 5 or more ppl.

  17. As a tank I always wait till my healer tells me they are ready, i could care less what DPS thinks.

  18. I see DPS doing this more often than tanks these day...facepullers ftl

  19. Totally agree with Josh. Sorry DPS, you spank it, you tank it. GOOD LUCK!

  20. I did it on multiple healers and its allways the first 5 seconds I buff and/or check for class mix to see which buff to use. Kings or might, strength or stoneskin, it was amazing the number of tanks that would allready be pulling and in combat by that point, while i am trying to chase down the npc while he is out of combat

  21. If only they made the quest sharable, then only one person would need to get it before pulling (probably the tank, so they can still pull before the dps did). I left a group mid-boss-fight without ever healing the tank because they didn't let me get the quest (and I am QUICK to buff) and they couldn't share it (I thought at the time they wouldn't share it). I healed the dps, because afaik it was the tank that charged on ahead.
