Currency Conundrum

So in Patch 5.1, Blizzard converted [Lesser Charm of Good Fortune] into currency. Then they gave us [Domination Point Commission] as an item drop.

One step forward, one step back. Sometimes Blizzard's logic is hard to fathom.

  1. Implying Blizzard has logic? I'm not sure I follow.

  2. Probably just means that items are easier to add to the game, than adding currency - and we'll likely see them converted to currency later?

  3. I saw a relevant post on the Blizzard forums, commenting that once something is in your currency pane you can never get rid of it, and because of this permanence the developers are careful about adding new currencies. Annoying as it is to spend an inventory slot on a commendation for a faction, you can at least discard them next patch or whenever you are done with them.

  4. You can get rid of currencies by putting them in the inactive panel though. More to the point, lesser charms of good fortune are not a currency to begin with while Domination Commissions are.

Even more to the point, why would anyone keep more than 90 + change of the lesser charms of good fortune around? Any more than 90 a week is useless.

  5. @Anonymous re: keeping more than 90 lesser charms.

I kept more than 90 lesser charms because I knew once I had hit exalted with all the existing reps I'd stop doing dailies. At this point I do a single tillers daily for the ironpaw token, work my farm, and maybe do the archaeology daily (mostly for the crate to turn in for fragments). Now with a supply of them I can work on other toons or other games without having to farm up 90 of them each week.

  6. That's fair. Makes me wonder why there's no other way to get them aside from dailies.

  7. It could be related to a difficulty in having "loot" go into the currency wallet. I don't think ANY of the current existing currencies can be found in a loot window, not counting actual gold.

  8. If *nothing* else, they stack to 1000, which is perfectly fine with me. I can handle one inventory slot taken up.

I got five slots back from the Lesser Charms conversion.
