I tend to be on the opposite side of that, going with 3 guildies and giving one random a smooth run with some Defenders of a Shattered World :P
On the other hand, doing the same on my Warrior alt that one random always happens to be a plate wearer, taking both my tanking and DPS stuff, duh (the last one yesterday was a Ret Pally doing a whopping 3k dps).
I haven't had THAT much luck in LFD Random Pugs but I haven't had any nightmare stories yet either. So far, I've had a pretty pleasant experience with it.
My guildies on the other hand are constantly talking about the abhorrent groups they end up. So maybe I'm just lucky?
Most of my pugs haven't been too bad. They're just slow. Healers who blow their wad every couple of pulls (despite cc), thus forcing the group to wait on mana. Underperforming dps who seem to think they can tickle a mob to death. Tanks who wait on all their cooldowns before proceeding into new sections.
As for titles, LoD still gets a good reaction. Sadly, showing Defender of a Shattered World leaves pugs with a blank stare until you link the achievement. Astral Walker gets no love either. :( I just can't win.
Considering we've had Trade pugs getting that title lately . . . I don't think it means much anymore, unfortuantely. I think it's why I prefer wearing Herald of the Titans. Could never outgear/level it. xD
What Farid said; when I see people I know to be barely able to turn food into feces walking around Stormwind proudly displaying their Starcaller titles, that's a good sign that the title no longer means anything.
Until I can get a new decent title, my paladin's displaying Crusader again.
hm, I am a healer, pugged a group, on the first mob the tank DCed - the DPS not even came to help, I died, they booted me off.. yep, you can get lucky and you can end up on the other side. Plenty of arrogant morons out there.. no question about that.. LFG needs a desperate overhaul.
I recently started a heroic healing on my pally. The tank walks up to the first pack of trash and says quote: "CC stuff. Do it."
No marks, no instructions. That was so hilarious that I seriously pondered throwing that up as our guild message of the day. I just wish I'd thought to screenshot it.

Light of Dawn is SOOOOOOOO last Xpac
ReplyDeleteoh, btw, /hate
I think part of it is that the bad pugs tend to stick in peoples minds and be the stories they tell.
ReplyDeleteMy experiences in the LFD are usually pretty positive. But yeah, the five-percent of the time that they are terrible are the most memorable ones.
ReplyDelete*shudder*
I'm batting around 50/50, which makes sense since I've done almost nothing but LFD for the last three weeks.

WTB random queues for rated BGs!
ReplyDeleteI always leave on my "Bane of the Fallen King" title, so if we wipe, they are less likely to blame me. IF THEY ONLY KNEW!

ReplyDeleteAwesome. It's always nice when pugs go well.
