I wanted to know if you use any mods to help in seeing who needs to be healed and who needs buffs. I don't plan to heal much just in those cases when my guild do old world runs for fun and I'm the only healer class available. well I take that back I might dual spec healing once it comes out :)
I use the mod Grid to see the healthbars of everyone in the raid. Grid can also be configured to show when a specific buff or debuff is on a character, and I have mine set to show Beacon of Light and Sacred Shield.
For paladin Blessings, I use PallyPower.
Those are pretty much the only mods I use. I do have all my heals use a macro so they cast on mouseover.
/cast [target=mouseover, help][] Holy Light
This allows me to just hover my mouse cursor over the person's healthbar on Grid and cast the heal, rather than explicitly switching targets.
That's about it for mods and macros that I use for healing. It's pretty much just Grid + mouseover macros.
I (as well as many others) find that xperl does a great job of making a grid like display.
ReplyDeleteI also use Clique to easily bind my mouse buttons to all my heals/shields.
Its pretty effective.
Coriel, This message really isn't related to this post, but more a general over-all comment. I have met some really nice paladins through my wow experience, but try though I might I've never been able to get past the first few levels with one, where leveling feels kind of boring. You make your class look exciting and interesting though and though I doubt I will ever level a pally to 80 -- you give me information about your class I might otherwise not know, in a way that's approachable and awesome. And I just wanted to say thanks! :)
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty much the same way I heal, Grid and MO-macros. Although I use ZOMGBuffs for my buffing needs.
ReplyDeletePersonally I use different mobs. I use grid for raidhealing and loving it. :) Secondly I use AG unit frams for 5mans. I dont have mouse over heals, but I just use loads and loads of key bindings.
ReplyDeleteI currently use quickheal which I have found to be extremely easy and user friendly. Has anyone else used quickheal that can compare it to Grid?
ReplyDeleteI'm in the same boat as Pauleh, I use Grid and Clique for Raid healing and AGUF for everything else.
ReplyDeleteClique is an awesome add-on and one that I use for all of my classes..
A 30 minutes a pop per blessing, and being a main raid healer, you should be aware of who dies and of what causes(lack of your heals).I have never liked pally-power,it just gives whoever is class leader that night a chance to flex his authority and big head to set up buffs according to his rule.
ReplyDeleteGrid+Clique are the only 2 mods a pro healer needs.
Grid allows a visual warning by a corner dot(if you set up that way)to see who is missing a buff.Simple effective.
Grid>PallyPower imo.

I used to be a major fan of Pally Power, but I've switched to ZOMGBuffs (by Zekie, that xperl genius).
ReplyDeleteIt handles buffs for *all* classes in a simple format, gives me popup reminders (if I want) for rebuffing, and communicates using the same protocols as pally power.
